House Organizing
This past weekend, TJ and I decided to buckle down and clean and organize some stuff in our “living room.” While we were cleaning, we decided to buy another 9-box shelf. We already had one, but thought just one made it look very cluttered. So, after an adventure to get another one from Target, we set it up and organized it! We decided to move our movies over to the shelves. Not only did it look cool, but we can easily see the movies we have and it declutters the bottom of our bookshelves. (Now we can buy more books, right?
) It looks really cool and I can’t wait for our next adventure in organizing our house. (Picture will be added soon)
January Budget!
Today we got our budget for January finalized. It is always soo exciting to get done with the budget for the month. We also went to the bank and got our Envelope system ready for January. We went to the vet and got Kevin’s Heartgard medicine and it was sooo nice to be able to pay for it with cash that was in the budget!
I am excited to see what all else happens this next year. We have a good running start, so let’s see what happens!
Organizing my Life
Recently several people have been encouraging people to organize their lives – spiritually, physically, etc. This next year I plan on organizing my life in several ways to help myself not only become a better person, but a more Christ-like person. Here are a few of the goals that I will be pursuing (and hopefully blogging about):
- Read through the Bible in a year (Goal is to have Old Testament done by the end of the summer)
- Get physically fit (able to run a mile, get in better shape)
- Organize my home
- Organize my classroom
- Get all my lesson plans done for the school year (by March)
- Read at least one book a month (goal is at least 2 – one fiction, one nonfiction)
- Get debt free! (only 2 left)
Hopefully by blogging about it it will not only give myself motivation to do things, but also keep me accountable for what I need to do to organize my life this next year – 2012.
Saying goodbye to a Coworker and Friend
Today we said our final farewell to Mrs. Layton. Mrs. Layton was my Elementary Supervisor for the past two years here at Friendship. She was a blessing to me and was there when I needed help. I knew I could rely on her to help with classroom discipline problems and with showing a smile when I needed it most. I will remember her smile and her excitement and love for the students. As I was sitting in her funeral, I was thinking about how I would teach with her now gone to a much better place. It dawned on me that I have to show my students (& others at the school) the same kind of love that she showed students (& me). This next school year I pray that God will give me the grace to not only show my students the same kind of love Mrs. Layton showed them, but more importantly the love that God has for each and every one of them.
Day Off!
Today I enjoyed the day off with my husband. It was so nice being able to sleep in and play video games with him. I even finished the book I was reading, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. It was a very good book. Next book on the reading list is The High King. We will see how that one goes. I plan on beginning it tonight. I love summer and being able to read a lot! We also got our will finished today. Our lawyer is very good. (If you want to know his name, just ask!
) Tomorrow it’s back to USA week at summer camp. We’re almost done with the week! Yeah!!!!
My baby
I just wanted to say that I love my dog Kevin (my husband also
). He is the best dog ever. He is inspiring me to one day work with dogs. I found a book recently that teaches you how to teach your dog to read. It was very fascinating! You are basically teaching your dog sight words and teach it just like you would a kid. That is our next adventure. We will see how it goes! First two words to learn are sit and down!
Hurting people
I really hate it when people are hurting. I wish they would let us help them. I don’t think they really know how much it hurts us when they don’t let us help. Pushing us away doesn’t do anything more than hurt us too. To that hurting friend, please, please stop pushing me away. It hurts more than you’ll ever know. I hope I get to talk to you soon.
“This is your day…”
I wish people would think about what they say before they say it. They keep saying “This is your day. You are the one getting married.” If that was really true then why do people keep getting mad at me for making the decisions I want. THE WEDDING IS IN RALEIGH. Live with it.
Our Goal
TJ and I’s one goal for the wedding is to plan one without stressing ourselves out. I think we can do it. There’s sooo much to do, but we can’t really do any of it without knowing where the wedding will be. Hopefully my mom will let us do it here in Raleigh. It would make everything sooo much easier!
WE’RE ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!
The story….
TJ took me out to Bath, NC to look at some hoof prints and to see Blackbeard’s house. We were walking around Bath and then came to Blackbeard’s house. I was taking pictures of it and I saw TJ walk behind me. I assumed he was continuing down the street. I turned around and he was there on his knee holding out the ring. I was shocked. He put the ring on my finger and we called it a day. Oh, and we couldn’t find the hoof prints.
We’re planning a July wedding.
